Schwarzenegger for President

A lot of conservatives criticize Arny for being too moderate. But I love his politics! There is a $26 billion deficit in California, and he refuses to raise taxes. Instead he proposes spending cuts...

"Democrats who control the legislature cannot pass a budget on their own. They agree with Republicans that deep spending cuts are needed but want some taxes increased. Republicans are holding firm against tax increases and Schwarzenegger has sided with them." - Reuters Article

View the list of Schwarzenegger's Proposed Budget Cuts. I'm sad these programs need to be cut, there's going to be some pain. But Californians already have extremely high taxes AND high unemployment. People can't afford higher taxes. We all need to live within our means - including the government. In my opinion, the federal government should have stopped spending so much money a long time ago. We haven't had a balanced federal budget since 1969, and our national debt is nearly $12 trillion. How can this be good for America?

I did like this quote: “She maybe is Puerto Rican or the same thing as Cuban. I mean, they are all very hot. They have the, you know, part of the black blood in them and part of the Latino blood in them that together makes it.” Hilarious.

3 issues, but the primary one is he is far too emotional, issues are not well thought out.

1. Taxes. Arnold pushed hard for these last 8 ballot intiatives - then when they all went down, played the classic liberal "well, the people have just voted to close all the schools and fire all the cops and firemen!"

It’s about the recent defeat of the Democrats’ and Schwarzenegger’s ballot initiatives that were disparate attempt to avoid having to make tough decisions.

2. Schwarzenegger tells backers of gay marriage: Don’t give up

The governor expresses hope that Proposition 8 would be overturned as protesters continued to march outside churches across California.

I could care less what the issue is, but any sitting governor who suggests that the peoples vote can be overturned in the courts has scary, emotional judgment.

3. "Global warming is man made and thus we must raise taxes and force you to drive in pintos."

I am going to go over the edge here and predict that if there were a deep, scientific study, one could prove that 80% of the reason California is buried in debt is because of all their environmental restrictions/taxes the dems have passed over the course of the last 30 years. Arnold has been at the fore-front of this government money grab - emotion.

WTF?

can we blog about anything here? How about healthcare spending...

The House Democratic health reform plan includes a provision in section 401 that creates a new "tax on individuals without acceptable health care coverage." That means if the government doesn't approve of the type of health insurance you have, you will be taxed as much as 2% of your yearly income. And there's no exemption for people making less than $250,000 per year! I do not believe increasing our taxes is a patriotic way to celebrate Independence Day.

Additionally, Senate Finance Chairman Max Baucus (D-MT) recently proposed legislation estimated by the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO) to cost $1.6 trillion over ten years. Despite this unprecedented budgetary outlay, more than 15 million uninsured Americans would remain unprotected under the Baucus Health Plan. Baucus now says that the cost has been pushed down to $1 trillion in an effort to sparse GOP complaints.

What say you? Is healthcare overhaul an example of frugal spending?
