Wrestling

I have mixed emotions about my kids wrestling. I love the sport, and it's a great character builder. But it's tough for the kids, and it's hard on parents. There are long hours of waiting for only a few minutes of action, injuries are likely and somewhat common. On the upside, it helps establish self esteem when they do good, and it teaches humility when they get beat. And boys just like to wrestle. At home we are always saying "no" and "stop it", but when they go to wrestling we can say "go for it and have fun".

So awesome! I thought pop warner football was fun to watch, 5 years old's wrasslin' is just as good! Kurt's tearin' it up! I love how low he gets in his stance. Looks ready to go! And he's definitely got the "where the head goes, the body follows" down pat! Nice job Kurt! Keep it up!

Ha! He started going real low in his stance because he wrestled a really good kid (who beat him 15-0) who had a low stance like that.

Here's a story that shines a little light on Kurt's character... We were in the habit of doing little 5-minute drills at home throughout the day. When he he went to his first tournament he go beat up pretty bad, and he was a little disappointed. He didn't say much on the drive home, then he says "Dad, I don't want to do 5 minute drills anymore." I'm thinking oh darn, he's giving up. But then he says, "I want to do 10 minute drills!" He's a good kid.

Man - he has drive!! He is a great kid!! I can't believe how good he is in wrestling! You need to be sure Ed sees this - Kurt's 5 yr old tapes look as good as Ed's scholarship tapes! (no offense Ed!)
Great Job Kurtie!

Wow. What a natural! Lanky little kid, like his dad. Tell him to beef up like his uncle Tom. Otherwise he's always going to be riding legs. LOL!
